The state geologist was required by law (Code of Alabama, 1898, Section 2244) to send vouchers and receipts to the state auditor for expenses of the Geological Survey to be drawn from the geologist's annual appropriation. The series includes items such as receipts, accounting sheets, bills, a survey chart, and occasionally reports of work completed. The bulk of the material relates to items purchased by the state surveyors working in the field.
